DALSA Chairman and Founder Inducted as Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering

DALSA Chairman and Founder and Chairman Dr. Savvas Chamberlain was inducted as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering at an awards ceremony on June 16 in Montreal.
 
The Canadian Academy of Engineering comprises many of the country's most accomplished engineers who have expressed their dedication to the application of science and engineering principles in the interests of the country and its enterprises. The Academy was established in 1987, and is an active member of the international Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS), which involves 24 other leading countries. In addition to his role as Executive Chairman of DALSA, an international leader in high performance digital imaging and semiconductors, Dr. Chamberlain serves as the Company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Prior to September 2007, he was DALSA's CEO. Dr. Chamberlain has a background as a scientist and professor at the University of Waterloo for more than 20 years. He has worked with Plessey Co. Ltd., Bell Northern Research and IBM, and has published more than 150 scientific papers, authored or co-authored more than 20 patents, and is the recipient of numerous awards and honours for his work. In 2007 Dr. Chamberlain accepted the Premier’s Catalyst Award for Lifetime Achievement in Innovation from Ontario Premier and Minister of Research and Innovation, Dalton McGuinty, at the inaugural Premier's Innovation Awards. Also in 2007 he also received an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.
