DALSA Corporation (TSX: DSA) today announced the expansion of its Piranha family of line scan cameras to include a Piranha Color model. The Piranha Color will be showcased during VISION 2006, November 7-9, at DALSA's stand #4.0 616, and boasts the industry's fastest line rates for color line scan cameras. DALSA's Piranha cameras are designed for high speed and high throughput applications, such as patterned color web (print) inspection, color document scanning, food inspection and printed circuit board inspection. With the addition of the Piranha Color, DALSA expands the breadth of its highly-sensitive Piranha camera family for OEMs with color imaging needs.

Add Color to Machine Vision Inspection
The Piranha Color is available in 2k or 4k resolutions with line rates up to 33 kHz, allowing users to inspect more material in less time. DALSA has pioneered unique tri-linear sensor technology to maximize color performance. In addition, Piranha Color features easy setup, built-in flat field correction, and industry-standard Camera Link interface. The Piranha Color will be available in Q1 2007.

About Tri-Linear Sensor Technology
DALSA's tri-linear sensor technology uses three sensors on one die - one for each color, red, green, and blue, and achieves three-pixel center-to-center line spacing which results in excellent color performance. Minimal line spacing provides a significant advantage and cost-savings when considered against more expensive prism-based color cameras and their required lensing.
