Teledyne DALSA’s newest LWIR camera excels in machine vision applications

WATERLOO, Canada – October 8, 2019 ─ Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies [NYSE:TDY] company and global leader in machine vision technology, is pleased to announce its second-generation Calibir DXM640 camera. The compact and uncooled Calibir LWIR platform offers outstanding shutterless performance and is optimized for Size, Weight and Power (SWAP). This higher performing version will be useful for both machine vision, where synchronization is required in an active inspection system, and in defense and security applications requiring low NETD and networked cameras.

The Calibir DXM640 features both shutter and shutterless operation and rapid image output on power up while delivering uniform response over the entire operating temperature range. This makes the Calibir DXM640 ideal for thermal imaging applications requiring uninterrupted image acquisition. The ULIS Gen2 sensor offers an improved NETD and the updated calibration includes customized gain correction on a per lens basis to offer even better image performances and response uniformity.

“Based on feedback from clients, we have integrated the ULIS Gen2 sensor into a renewed and updated Calibir platform,” said Jean Brunelle, Product Manager for the new Calibir DXM60. “This allows us to offer both improved image performance for clients that are very particular about quality, along with triggering functionality to synchronize multiple cameras either through a network using precise time protocol (PTP) or with hardware triggers supplied to the camera’s I/O. This new functionality is aimed at machine vision clients wishing to discover the possibilities of LWIR in solving previously impossible inspection challenges.”
